Political Situation

"Donald Trump is the new president!"
said a 3 year old kid to me
"Yes, he is! He's going to be president"
chimes another kid

Like what the heck how on earth do these kids know what a president is, let alone Donald Trump?
Like I didn't even know what a president was when I was 3

OKAY SO SELF SO PLEASE

like why did you go
"oh I can't figure out these three math problems, so I'm going to skip them for now"
that's reasonable
right?

Well, okay, fine, that's okay.
Then you leave about enough space for 30 problems
THEN you start your new page
Title it and everything
AND THEN NOT DO A FLIPPING PROBLEM

like I'd totes forgive you if you'd done math, because that's math I won't have to procrastinate on do.
But if you JUST SIMPLY TITLE IT?

IMMA KILL YOU
Oh, wait the culprit 'twas myself
I take that back

So now I'm left with a notebook with 2 blank pages
and one with a title

SO WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THESE BLANK PAGES BEFORE MY OCD KILLS ME?

Musician's life

I have two things to write about so I'll do them both

First, me earlier:

*Eats food*
*is in the middle of a bite*
"Oh, wait, I forgot"
*goes and plays piano for an hour*
*returns to food*
*takes another bite*

Second, also me earlier
How to totally confuzzle a musician:
Have them play two pieces consecutively, one with 5 sharps and another with 6 flats.

#FlytheW

Okay, so I'm not a Cubs fan
you would know if this you followed my twitter.

I do like seeing history made
And man, did they ever

First win in 108 years
first team to rally from a three-games-to-one Series deficit since Kansas City did so in 1985
and
the first to do it on the road since Pittsburgh in 1979

AND LIKE I'M SO HAPPY

Autocorrect

Autocorrect is even worse than just typoing on a keyboard
At least on a keyboard, people can tell that you mistyped
With autocorrect, you just message people with this perfectly spelled word that makes absolutely no sense

Y'all. I SURVIVED THE PSAT

AGAIN!!!!!!!!

Actual moment post-PSAT
"How many people does it take to put away a folding table?"
"6- 5 brainless overly-tested people, and one with a brain"

Yeah. It was that bad.

Also I'm forever grateful to M for bringing me out of my post-PSAT slump by showing me his pretty rocks.
LIKE PEOPLES LOOK AT THIS
LIKE IS NOT IT THE PRETTYIEST MOST SATISFYING THING EVER
also like since considering my online name, it's pretty obvious what I obsess over

Band Music

band music that you don't know how to play
in the first rehearsals of the year
and the recording
and it's so unbelievably beautiful

and you don't know how you'll ever to play it
but then it starts coming together
piece by piece
slowly sounding like it should

and it sounds more and more like the recording
then you add your own touch
and it's so beautiful
it sounds like the recording

and you're so proud of it but also so sick of it
because to make it pretty
you had to practice it
over and over and over again

It's so beautiful but also so not but so much so
and you're so tired of it
but it's so beautiful
and then the concert comes up

And so you play together for the last time
something goes wrong
but you can't listen
because you're concentrating

It's all over before you can even really think
blood, toil, tears, and sweat
 all within minutes
and then it's over. It's all over.

thanks for reading
stupid poetry about something I didn't even intend to write about oops :P
and also this took way longer than it should had

That Moment When #2

You're sitting in study hall
the period before physics class
with 3 other people
doing the physics homework you procrastinated on
then you look up
and see
that every single one of the others in study hall
are also doing physics homework
one hour before its due

and it only gets better
the principal walks in holding
a chemistry textbook
and asked
"is this anyone's?"

Nope, sorry, we're all doing physics homework.

Daddy at the grocery store

looking like one of those dads who has no idea what's what
one hand on shopping cart
the other on phone

*arrives at store*
*looks around for 5 minutes*
*calls home*
"Are 2 onions for $2.99 too much?"
(Um, heck yeah duh)

*3 minutes later*
*calls home again*
"Do we need vegetables? There's this one that's green and leafy on sale"

*5 or so minutes later*
*calls home*
"Do you want noodles? There's this brand that's well known but it's twice as expensive"
"Why would you buy the generic brand? Who knows what they put in it?
"Yeah, but this brand is well known"
*eventually buys one expensive pack and one cheap pack*

Listening to history songs be like

"Margaret Thatcher became the first black president of the USA-aaaa-aaaaa"
~overheard younger brother singing as he worked on school

Sorry kid, I think you got your facts *slightly* mixed up there....

Hee I was dying in the kitchen eating food while listening to him singing that line over and over again trying not to laugh.

Key:
Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan fought communism together
Nelson Mandela became the first black president
the president of the USA part came from the US president song

CJAP proctor on cleaning up chemical workspace-
'Make it clean, but not too excessively clean, like your kitchen'

So excuse me,
but should my kitchen be 'not too excessively clean'?

Also my partner's mom keeps their kitchen spotless
So if we were to actually clean it like THEIR kitchen
Then we might be there a long time....

Also, at this rate, this notesheet could take a REALLY long time....States is next week....AAUGH

I swear, SciOly events that need magnifying glasses need the magnifying glasses solely to read the miniscle text that the competitors' notesheets are written in.

Happy 100th Birthday to my favorite author (or, at least one of the top 100....)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEVERLY CLEARY!!!
The author of my childhood
The starter of so many of my dreams
The fueler of my ideas
For instance-
All her life she had wanted to squeeze the toothpaste really squeeze it,not just one little squirt...
and...
After Father had served the chicken and mashed potatoes and peas and Mother had passed the hot rolls, Beezus decided the time had come to tell Aunt Beatrice about being Sacajawea. "Do you know what I did last week?" she began. "I want some jelly," said Ramona "You mean, 'Please pass the jelly,' "corrected Mother while Beezus waited patiently. 'No, what did you do last week?" asked Aunt Beatrice. "Well, last week I-" Beezus began again. " like purple jelly better then red jelly," said Ramona. ' Ramona , stop interrupting your sister," said Father. "Well, I do like purple jelly better then red jelly," insisted Ramona."Never mind," said Mother. "Go no, Beezus." Last week-" said Beezus, looking at her aunt, who smiled as if she understood."Excuse me, Beezus," Mother cut in. "Ramona, we do not put jelly on our mashed potatoes." "I like jelly on my mashed potatoes."Ramona stirred potato and jelly around with her fork. "Ramona you heard what your mother said." Father looked stern. "If I can put butter on my mashed potatoes, why can't I put jelly? I put butter and jelly on toast," said Ramona. Father couldn't help laughing. "That's a hard question to answer." "But Mother-" Beezus began."I like jelly on my mashed potateos," interrupted Ramona, looking sulky.”
<Read it all--it's great>

and...
“Say, who is this Mr. King?” “What Mr. King?” asked Ramona, walking into his trap. “Nosmo King,”
I've been WAITING to be able to use this FOREVER....

and...
Ramona could not understand why grown-ups always talked about how quickly children grew up. Ramona thought growing up was the slowest thing there was, slower even than waiting for Christmas to come.
She had been waiting years just to get to kindergarten, and the last half hour was the slowest part of all
She's able to put into words so many feelings that I've had ever since childhood...and is one of my favorite authors of all time.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

SATIIs

Camp NaNo

I'm doing Camp NaNo this session.
It seems literally stupid.
Like why, self, do you think it's a good idea to take on writing on top of a mountain of homework and school and SciOly and stuff?
Well...I don't have blogposts to tide me through June, which is when I can officially start writing. That's why.
I utilize Camp NaNos to prewrite blogposts for my blog...not writing fiction or anything, but it's a good way for me to write and stock up on blogposts so that I can post regularly, and not get bogged down because of a lot of work or whatever.
But. Update.
No, I'm not procrastinating right now. Why do you ask?

Things I learned from decorating Easter eggs.

Don't wipe your white-paint laden hands on black yoga pants. Bad idea.
Color code. Pink+green+yellow+gold+bronze+white+black+brown don't go together.
Painting with a toothpick is much easier and much more tedious than it sounds.
Blowing eggs takes the orbicularis oris muscle (aka mouth) of trumpet players, not flute/bassoon players...it's legitly hard work.
Drawing on round stuff is hard.
Don't use different colored Sharpies and expect the colors to be the same.
Taking pictures for a DIY blogpost on spring-y colored wrapping paper is BOMB. Example, since the post won't be up for another year-
Like, WOAH I'm tumblr now.

Today I learned #6

that it is a bad idea to listen to my overly tired, overly ambitious self at 2am think that it is a good idea to set 7 alarms ranging between 5 and 7am...I won't get up, even if there is homework due.

Public Speaking v.s. Writing

Most people would rather die than speak in public.
I'm completely opposite.
I'd much rather give a speech than write an essay.
I'd much rather talk to actual people instead of sitting in front of a keyboard typing out what I want to tell people.
Is it just because I'm such an extrovert?
Or is it because of 4H?
I don't know.
I can easily sit in front of the computer for HOURS writing out a speech.
I DIE within minutes of sitting down to write an essay.
This further confirms my weirdness.

Semicolons and Colons

Wikipedia on Science Olympiad

Science Olympiad is an American middle school and high school team competition in which students compete in 'events' pertaining to various scientific disciplines, including earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering.
I have literally said/typed out these words so many times that I basically write it in my essay without even realizing it fully:
Science Olympiad is a competition in which middle and high schoolers participate in competing in events related to various fields of science, such as biology, chemistry, physics, geology, and engineering.

SciOly Regionals 2016 Rant

I CAN'T WAIT!

but i'm mad that i won't have to leave the friggin building at all ALL DAY (homeroom+all my events are in the same building) unless i actually actively move out of the building.

i'm also mad that my best SciOly friend is not available to run around with me to run around campus and track people and watch build events with, which is like 80% of the fun of SciOly days

and i'm mad that my events are weirdly spaced so that i can't really go anywhere, kinda not really; i have to stay in the same building waiting...(#homeschooler- not capitalizing "i"s but still using semicolons)

i'm excited for cool water fountains in the building

i think i'm going to fail at least 2 of my 3 events

and that's it

Mom- "Don't worry, you still have school today."

My (nonserious) thoughts.....about Tea Bag Strings

Tea bags should always contain strings, because without strings no one can tell that you're drinking tea, which defeats the entire purpose of drinking tea. Except, of course, that you're drinking tea.

Hoarding milk?!

Apparently all the people in this crazy state hoard milk when they hear the words "possible snow". Two friends both sent us a picture of an empty milk shelf....at the same spot in the same store.

When you make a totally bomb lunch

then your mom makes an even more bomb lunch

Then you end up eating two lunches.

Walking through Target

carrying a large slushy through Target, catching all the stares of people being like, "Gurl...it's snowing outside and you're drinking a slushy?!"

Yeh, I'm weird.

Internet Time

My dad just told me that being on the internet was causing ADHD, because I multitask so much....says the person who spends more time on the internet than I do.

Sickness

What Google says I have-

  • A cold
  • The flu
  • Tonsillitis
  • Strep Throat
  • Chicken Pox
  • Croup
  • Measles
  • Mononucleosis
  • Whooping Cough
What I actually have-

  • A sore throat.
And this, folks, is why people are paranoid in this time and age.

Today I learned #4

that whenever my mom's in a bad mood, the most simple way to not have her turn her rage on you is simply to do the dishes in the sink.

Having a hole in my cheek
