Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

Musician's life

I have two things to write about so I'll do them both

First, me earlier:

*Eats food*
*is in the middle of a bite*
"Oh, wait, I forgot"
*goes and plays piano for an hour*
*returns to food*
*takes another bite*

Second, also me earlier
How to totally confuzzle a musician:
Have them play two pieces consecutively, one with 5 sharps and another with 6 flats.

Band Music

band music that you don't know how to play
in the first rehearsals of the year
and the recording
and it's so unbelievably beautiful

and you don't know how you'll ever to play it
but then it starts coming together
piece by piece
slowly sounding like it should

and it sounds more and more like the recording
then you add your own touch
and it's so beautiful
it sounds like the recording

and you're so proud of it but also so sick of it
because to make it pretty
you had to practice it
over and over and over again

It's so beautiful but also so not but so much so
and you're so tired of it
but it's so beautiful
and then the concert comes up

And so you play together for the last time
something goes wrong
but you can't listen
because you're concentrating

It's all over before you can even really think
blood, toil, tears, and sweat
 all within minutes
and then it's over. It's all over.

thanks for reading
stupid poetry about something I didn't even intend to write about oops :P
and also this took way longer than it should had

I GOT AMAZING BAND DIRECTORS PEOPLES

who were able to pull off an amazing rehearsal with no first flute, no first clarinet, no first trombone, no sax section, no french horn section, and several missing trumpets and clarinets. I'm so blessed.

Playing an instrument

Sure, Bach, whatever you say.
As for me, I spend ungodly amounts of time trying to touch the right key at the right time.

Christmas music

Now, don't get me wrong. I've started listening to Christmas music ever since the middle of October...but this morning, I legitly heard Christmas music on the radio. I'm in heaven.

Finally found my type of music.

I couldn't find music that I liked for the longest time. Everyone kept asking me which kind of music I liked to listen too...and I always answered CCM, which I only sorta liked.

Pandora gave me my answer- when I started a Julie Andrews playlist....I've only had to skip about one song- everything else has been FABULOUS- 4/5 Sound of Music songs, 2 Mary Poppins songs, and Over the Rainbow, and many more that I LOVE.

It's always nice

to have someone appreciate your music, even when you sound like a dying baby elephant.

Dear band director,

I LOVE you for choosing for us to play The Sound of Music. However, if I go around incessantly singing parts of the Sound of Music, please feel free to slap me or to tell me to shut up.

Audition

Haven't practiced over the summer
No particular experience choosing audition pieces
No private teacher to help teach
Can't ask band teacher since s/he's the one auditioning me
Wants to get into a higher level band
Chose piece I didn't like
Changed piece 2 hours before audition
Auditioning done by person I really don't want to fail in front of
Totally botched rhythm of my solo during audition
Also totally botched chromatic scale
Wonder how I did.

===============
Is this poetry? It certainly looks like poetry.....am I a poet? This wasn't even intentional.....

Texting #1

Texting my band director about music stuff.
Mentioned I was interested in playing bassoon (y'know, for a more unique instrument for colleges and stuffs)
Immediate reply, "We have a bassoon you could try".
Wowzee. Too fast for my comfort. XD

The advantage of knowing all 12 major scales

Music Teacher: Let's begin warming up with a scale. What major scale would y'all like to play?

Me: B major! (Which has 5 sharps and is virtually one of the hardest scales to play)

Everyone: *looks at me weird*

Other Music Teacher: So flute....
