My (nonserious) thoughts.....about texting abbreviations

I used to be a very enthusiastic advocate for txt abbs.  I was REALLY extreme.
For example, "No, I hvn't hrd frm NE (any) __ ppl yt...y?"
However, as I got my own phone and started texting more, I now pride myself on not using any abbreviations at. all. Well, all except idk. I still idk a lot.
I'm now an advocate against texting abbreviations...
The one abbreviation that makes me cringe every time? "U"
Heck, why can't you just expend 0.0005 calorie-worth's more effort and type a "y" and a "o"? U what? Just "you", please....you...YOU!!!
I have a number of adorable texts that I would LOVE to reread constantly...but I can't stand the "U"s in them....ugh! I suppose that's a good thing...it keeps me from spending too much time reading them, but mmrph.
The person that I text the most uses u's excessively....I can't stand it, but I love the person, so I bear up with it. If someone else were to use as many "u"s, I'd reply back to each text with "you*" until they got the picture.

Heck people....PLEASE! Just. Use. Normal. People. Language.....please. And scrap the "u"s....PLEASE?!

I honestly feel like I'm babbling...on and on...but I gotta express my opinion.
