My (nonserious) thoughts.....about texting abbreviations

I used to be a very enthusiastic advocate for txt abbs.  I was REALLY extreme.
For example, "No, I hvn't hrd frm NE (any) __ ppl yt...y?"
However, as I got my own phone and started texting more, I now pride myself on not using any abbreviations at. all. Well, all except idk. I still idk a lot.
I'm now an advocate against texting abbreviations...
The one abbreviation that makes me cringe every time? "U"
Heck, why can't you just expend 0.0005 calorie-worth's more effort and type a "y" and a "o"? U what? Just "you", please....you...YOU!!!
I have a number of adorable texts that I would LOVE to reread constantly...but I can't stand the "U"s in them....ugh! I suppose that's a good thing...it keeps me from spending too much time reading them, but mmrph.
The person that I text the most uses u's excessively....I can't stand it, but I love the person, so I bear up with it. If someone else were to use as many "u"s, I'd reply back to each text with "you*" until they got the picture.

Heck people....PLEASE! Just. Use. Normal. People. Language.....please. And scrap the "u"s....PLEASE?!

I honestly feel like I'm babbling...on and on...but I gotta express my opinion.

My (nonserious) thoughts.....about Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a season of gratitude
It's also more than that
It's a season of messed up routines
Of stomach flu
Of so much sleep
Of turkey
And of oversized idiots tackling each other
Why can't they each get their own ball?

Thanksgiving is an awkward holiday
Stuck between the start of school and Christmas
Gives people a false happiness of a break
But pulls away, with a teasing tone
"Too bad, you still have three more weeks before break!"
It symbolizes the start of Christmas
Goodbye turkey, hello Santa

Black Friday is also odd
People trying to get best deals
Buying things that will be useless in two months
A day to be greedy
And to get more things
After the day of being thankful for what you have

In all, Thanksgiving is a nice holiday
But it's also an odd holiday
It's a trailer for Christmas
An excuse for overeating
And for overspending
Goodbye Thanksgiving
Come back and be awkward again next year.

From the Archives of Happy Little Thoughts: Black Friday

I've come across some wonderful Black Friday quotes. Here are a few that I'd like to share with you-

  • Black Friday is the day where people trample others for sales exactly one day after being thankful for what they already have.
  • Black Friday is made so that the people who spilled food on their clothes during Thanksgiving dinner will have a chance to buy more.
  • YEAH!! My medical bills for Black Friday were more than what I saved during Black Friday!!
and my favorite-
  • Black Friday should be called the Hunger Games. People kill each other and the winner gets a $20 Crock-Pot.

Annual Science Olympiad moaning and groaning

Well...it's actually pretty late for a SciOly "what are you doing to me" post....but I have yet to make one for this year, so here goes!

This year, I have Chem Lab, Cell Bio, and Fossils Experimental Design. WHAT?! Mr. C what did you do to me?! You kicked me off fossils?!?!
IMSOMADIMSOMADICANTEVEN ITS NOT FUNNY IKNOWITISBUTDONTLAUGH

You had me help with the fossils binder last year with the promise that I could do it THIS year because you had people who could do it last year....WHY?! NUUUUUU It's always nice to know I wasted like 20 hours of my life...UGH.

Also...so Mr. C decided that apparently I'm really really good at lab events/study lab events...my third year of SciOly, because (probably) of my single digit placing last year at nats...seriously? After 2 years of building..you decide that I'm good at study stuff. Thanks. I know I can't blame you..how could you have known, but...hhrmph.

I don't even KNOW my partners for Cell Bio and Chem Lab! I haven't even talked to them, ever, for goodness' sake. And what? They can't study until January? WHAT?!

Every year, I'm always SO mad about my events...but slowly grow to love them as the year wears on.

<OOH, I know what I can do! I can revisit last year's post and see what the difference is between then and now!>
*copies and pastes*
I have CJAP, Bottle Rockets, and Air Trajectory.

The one and only one I want to do is not one of them. :I I seriously JOINED Science Olympiad this year for that event!!! Mmm...well it's kinda the same way with this year. I survived last year, so I'll probably also survive this year.

Steaming at my coach. CJAP's alright I guess. It certainly was! I loved every moment of it. I told him I didn't want to do building unless no one else wanted to do it. Apparently no one else did, and he stuck me with 2. :/ My little brother's stuck with 3 building events. How my brother gets to have more events then I do is something I don't get. :/ The building event count for our family is 5. O_O Only the rule is that it's at least one per family. Gaah. Why doesn't he just give us like 2, one per kid? I ended up LOVING bottle rockets (and failing miserably at nationals...seriously, our state time would have gotten us in the top 10..but we got worse than 30th!)....and also loving Air T...but also being really really frustrated at the end.

This was just an extremely long post/rant about Science Olympiad and my coach in particular. :/ I don't blame ya'.

Note to Mr. C., if you ever read this- I am not ranting AT you, I'm just ranting because I want to. :D

Also, on a sidenote, I have a long short story due in <24 hours, and I haven't started it yet. That's submitted. I got a good grade. I remember.
On a sidenote on a sidenote, I have a hole in my mouth. That's healed.

The moral of the story is- Don't mess with me right now. I think you can now.

The innocence of youth

Whilst at piano teacher's house, dialogue between me and piano teacher's daughter, age 2.

Me: *uses eraser*

Her: *picks up eraser* What's this?

Me; That's an eraser. You can use it to take off pencil on paper.

Her: How?

Me: *Draws a line on the piece of paper then erases it*

Her: *eyes widen* ooh....how?!

Me: You want to try? *draws several lines on paper and offers it to her*

Her: Yes! *takes paper and eraser and runs away* *comes back 5 minutes later with erased (used lightly) paper*

Ahh...the innocence of not knowing what an eraser is...I with I could be like that.

Nonworking Telephones

Got a telephone set with 4 handsets at a garage sale which doesn't work. However, it has a intercom feature so we can call the different handsets, in which case we all are super polite to each other like we're actually on the phone instead of yelling at each other, although we may be in the same room/adjoining rooms.

Strange how changing the form of communication changes the dynamic of communication entirely.

Today I learned #1

That the height needed for my feet to be placed flat on the ground while sitting in band chairs is exactly the height of my flute stand.

I also learned that my flute stand can't stand the weight of my legs.

Conclusion- my flute stand is now damaged. I still need to find something to rest my feet on that doesn't look weird.

How to procrastinate on math

Step 1: Set alarm to insanely early time.

Step 2: When alarm goes off, turn it off and go back to bed.

Step 3: Wake up an hour late, past the time you're supposed to start doing math.

Step 4: Decide that since it's too late for math, you might as well just do biology.

Step 5: Go to music lessons. Play with the teacher's kids instead of doing math.

Step 6:Go on Habitica and attempt to look productive.

Step 7: Get sucked into the vortex of the internet/social media.

Step 8: Turn off computer and head to desk. Decide that your working space is too cluttered, so you have to clean first.

Step 9: While cleaning, come across your take-home biology test.

Step 10: Take your biology test, since you'll have to do it anyways.

Step 11: Have the test signed off by your parent (since it's a take home test), who is downstairs by the kitchen.

Step 12: As you pass through the kitchen, decide you're hungry and eat food.

Step 13: Do Spanish, since you're downstairs anyways.

Step 14: Post a 'How to Procrastinate on Math' tutorial.

Guess who's been following these instructions to the letter?

I may be dyslexic or something

First off, it took me about 8 tries to get the word dyslexic.

My point is, however, that I learned about mitosis, then learned about meiosis in the next chapter and thought I was learning about the same thing for the longest time.

Got a pair of boots today, though.

Things I learned from the PSAT

Took the PSAT today...'twas pretty interesting.

Things I learned from the PSAT-

• Herminia's mother is fiercely proud of her poetry
• Fredrick Douglass hates 4th of July
• Dogs are sophisticated
• Wolf pups won’t look me in the eye
• Spanish moss is neither Spanish nor moss
• The pens are tilapia, everything is tilapia
• Big nose horn face
• I like fossils
• Some people are actually rich enough to spend ~$50 on cookies and water for lunch.
• Flash in the pan
• Thad
• DELETE the underlined portion

(I didn't come up with these myself, they've been floating around the internet)
Also, the test rules didn't say anything talking about the stuff on the projects, just the problems...so...

To squeeze or not to squeeze

So we use this kind of squeezy fluoride rinse-
There's a little container thing that you squeeze the rinse into to make sure you only use the right amount....and that's always the highlight of the night routine.

To squeeze after you've rinse already for tomorrow, or not to squeeze so that you can squeeze tomorrow....that is the question.

Finally found my type of music.

I couldn't find music that I liked for the longest time. Everyone kept asking me which kind of music I liked to listen too...and I always answered CCM, which I only sorta liked.

Pandora gave me my answer- when I started a Julie Andrews playlist....I've only had to skip about one song- everything else has been FABULOUS- 4/5 Sound of Music songs, 2 Mary Poppins songs, and Over the Rainbow, and many more that I LOVE.

I don't particularly care about what you believe in...I do have a view on that, but I'm not going to put it on the internet for everyone to criticize. The only thing I have to say, is.....I'm kind of mad now that I can't wear rainbow scarves/hats/etc without appearing to support LGBT-ness.

Ations
by Shel Silverstein

If we meet and I say, 'Hi,'
That's a salutation.
If you ask me how I feel,
That's a consideration.
If we stop and talk a while,
That's a conversation.
If we understand each other,
That's a communication.
If we argue, scream and fight,
That's an altercation.
If later we apoligize,
That's reconciliation.
If we help each other home,
That's a cooperation.
And all these actions added up
Make Civilization.
(And if I say this is a wonderful poem,
Is that exaggeration?)

Saw the word "Ation" and thought, "They spelled it wrong. It should be Anion or Cation not Ation".

My websites

5th "blog" is up! It's not a real blog, but it's a Tumblr.

  1. My first inklings of internet posting. It has already been deleted, due to lack of suitable material, and my lack of internet usage at the time.
  2. My "official" website, lying dormant for the time being, but it shall be resurrected before 2017, hopefully by next summer. http://rockandminerals4him.weebly.com/
  3. My official and active blog. I post here every Friday, and it includes new year’s resolutions, funny posts, recipes, and more! https://rockandminerals4him.wordpress.com/
  4. This blog! Just random thoughts that don't really go anywhere except social media outlets such as Twitter and Google Plus, both of which I'm not too thrilled about.posting about my life on, even though I well know that this is way less private than either of those sites. http://rockandminerals4him.blogspot.com/
  5. My tumblr. At this current moment, I'm only looking up pretty Christian edited photos to reblog, and to post my own edited photos...and a few others, but it may well start to get interesting soon! http://rockandminerals4him.tumblr.com/

1st SciOly meeting

Since it was such a momentous meeting for me (hah!)...I shall attempt to provide to my faithful readers (double hah!) with a recap, which I'm sure they are interested in (triple hah!)

P.S. They are not in any particular order....just as I think of them.

  • Favorite event of last year? Um.....daren't say none.....I say (with much arm waving, because that's how I am), "Rocks....and shall always be rocks." (Have you noticed that by now? Haha)
  • I can't stand first SciOly meetings....there's always so many new people.....I feel like they're somehow invading my space, my team....ugh....but thank heavens this year I know most of the new people...and so it's way less intimidating. Also THANK YOU Mr./Mrs. C for using the big room, so I don't have to see all those new people.
  • Ugh I like to talk about SciOly entirely too much for my own good. I may have scared people away....eesh.
  • If you don't want to bring my wrath upon yourself, DON'T MESS WITH MY MACHINE!!!
  • More talking about SciOly. I realize I talk too much.....but ugh. ew.
  • I know so many people! Wow.
  • I guess it wasn't wise to have worn long sleeves to a small building with 40+ people...hot!
  • Moving my device out. Yus. Don't ruin it peoples.
If you're totally confused as to what on earth SciOly is, check out my blogpost here. (Watch out...it's long....I TOLD you I talk about SciOly too much. Ugh.

Thanks for bearing with me!

Audition

Haven't practiced over the summer
No particular experience choosing audition pieces
No private teacher to help teach
Can't ask band teacher since s/he's the one auditioning me
Wants to get into a higher level band
Chose piece I didn't like
Changed piece 2 hours before audition
Auditioning done by person I really don't want to fail in front of
Totally botched rhythm of my solo during audition
Also totally botched chromatic scale
Wonder how I did.

The beginnings

Or, rather, the continuation of Happy Little Thoughts, which I have had for 2 years. Having found that Weebly isn't a good platform for me to write a blog on (It's just too clunky for a blog; the website in and of itself is great, but the blog platform isn't), but finding that I will need a blog to write informally, unlike my Wordpress blog, I've decided to use Blogger as my platform. I didn't get very good results last time I tried, but we'll see.

On a sidenote, this is my 4th blog and counting!
